Stereoliza is a pop/hip-hop project based in Ukraine. The members are: Katya Shalayeva (vocals and lyrics) and Alex Ginchev (music, production). They started as a band in 2003, and released the debut album "X-amine Your Zippa" in spring 2006. Stereoliza is signed to Ukrainian Records, the licensee of Universal Music Group in Ukraine.
All songs on the album are in English. The first single was "X.Y.Z.", a rap/dance song with unorthodox lyrics. The video was shot in New York, U.S.A. The next video for "Corporate Logic" was shot in Los Angeles, U.S.A. at one of the Hollywood studios. The album was mastered by Brian "Big Bass" Gardner at Bernie Grundman Studios.
Their name originated from a word board game.
[edit] Katya
- Katya was born in Russia and moved to Ukraine in her teens. Her parents wanted her to be a diplomat and were preparing her to a somewhat political career, but the girl soon realized that it was not what she had wanted. “I didn’t have too much of office life, but what I had was enough for me”, says Katya.
She also posed nude for the Ukraine edition of Playboy in November 2006.
[edit] Alex
- Alex plays several instruments, and isn't as good at speaking English as Katya
