[edit] Programme
The ships are being built by Severnaya Verf shipyard in St.Petersburg
Steregushchy (Watchful) - Lead ship, commissioned on 14 November 2007.
Soobrazitelniy (Smart; intelligent) - second ship, under construction.
Boikiy (Quick)- third ship in the series, almost completed.
Stoikiy (Firm) - fourth ship, laid down 10.11.2006
In total, the Russian Navy have publicly announced that they expect to buy at least 20 of these ships, for all four major fleets.
However, only one has been launched and three more laid down since the programme started. Given the evidence of long delays explained in Kommersant[1], and the stunted state of Russian shipbuilding since the fall of the Soviet Union, it is believed that the planned twenty vessels will never enter service. Indonesian navy have plan to acquired 4 of these corvettes as replacement of their old dutch-built fatahillah class corvette.
According to Jane's Naval Forces News, the first vessel was commissioned on 14 November 2007.[2]
