The Steptoe Massacre was an 1858 battle of the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene-Paloos War between a US Army supply train led by Lt. Col. Edward Steptoe and a group of Indians from the Snake River area, in today's Idaho Fifteen American soldiers were killed and many more Indians were killed in retribution.
