[edit] History

Stephen Speaks first album No More Doubt was recorded in 1999. Speaks' music is distributed through various online retailers, including Awarestore.com and CDbaby, who offers them digital distribution through outlets such as iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster. No More Doubt's two biggest singles, "Passenger Seat" and "Out of My League" both went #1 on Filipino radio stations. No More Doubt was released in the Philippines on February 4, 2003, through a licensing deal negotiated with Warner Music. The album was declared platinum ten days later by Warner Music, on February 14, 2003.[1]

Ripperger began recording his newest album in 2007 with producer Chad Copelin, the band's first effort outside of their own studio. Copelin has worked with such artists as Graham Colton, Esterdrang, Pedro The Lion, The Hero Factor, and The Umbrellas.

Live performances usually consist of duo Ripperger and Samuelson, but on larger tours they have a band that plays with them. Traditionally these have been various members of the musical group, The Hero Factor, and guitarist Ben Mosier from the rock band, Upside. Both bands Ripperger has produced in his home studio in years past.

Stephen Speaks' strongest presence has been on the internet in 2006-2007. On MySpace Stephen Speaks has consistently been in the top 100 artists since spring of 2006 and has received over 3.5 million plays. On iSound.com, the band has received over 2 million plays and has been in the top 3 most played artists since 2005. Speaks' also placed third in the isound.com battle of the bands in 2006. In February 2007, Speaks' made the top 100 sales charts for CDbaby due to their jump in iTunes sales since the release of their new album preview material. Stephen Speaks' newest album Symptoms of Love was released September 18, 2007.
