Stephen Oliver (bishop)

Stephen John Oliver has been the Anglican Bishop of Stepney since 2003[1]. Born on 7 January 1948 he was educated at King’s College, London[2] and St Augustine's College, Canterbury [3] before embarking on a curacy at Clifton, Nottingham[4]. After an Incumbency at St Mary Plumtree[5] in the same Diocese he became head of religious programming at the BBC. From 1997 until 2003 he was Canon Residentiary at St Paul's Cathedral [6] before elevation to the Suffragan Bishopric of Stepney when Richard Chartres ascended to the Full See of the Diocese[7].
