Stephen McCoy

Stephen McCoy was a fictional character in the RTÉ soap opera Fair City. He is the son of Norleen McCoy and the stepson of Kay McCoy. The character was portrayed by Shane McDaid.

Stephen spent some of his childhood years living in a religious cult and subsequently became introverted. When he witnessed his mother Noreen committing suicide, he was traumatised and cried at her funeral. Stephen's stepmother Kay McCoy took him to Carrigstown to live with her husband Malachy. The leaders of the cult tracked down Stephen and demanded that he returns to his religious duties. Although he was scared, Stephen refused to be intimidated and decided to stay with Kay and Malachy.

Stephen found it difficult to socialise with students at school and was soon the target of bullying. Kay suspected that he was feeling depressed and brought Oisin over to talk to him. Although Oisin had a great time playing on the PlayStation, Stephen just stared in awe at the screen. He managed to befriend Emma though and the two of them started to go on dates together. However, Stephen's new friend landed him in trouble when she introduced him to drug-dealing. Stephen has gone to boarding school in the country.
