Stephen J Bennett

Stephen (James) Bennett is a musician, writer and film-maker born in Skelmersdale in the north west of England. He first came to public attention in the band LaHost in the 1980s as part of the New wave of progressive rock who had headlined at the legendary Marquee club in London.

Since the Lahost split, Stephen has pursued music careers with his own band The Fire Thieves and worked with Tim Bowness, partner of Steven Wilson, in No-Man and the band henry fool.

Stephen has also collaborated with singer songwriter Lady Sara Rönneke, David Torn, Hugh Hopper and David Picking. Recently, he has moved into film making with music videos for Tim Bowness and Peter Chilvers and No-Man and has just completed his first narrative film.

He also writes about Logic for the UK's best-selling music technology magazine, Sound on Sound, amongst others, as well as books on the same subject for PC-Publishing.

He now lives in Sweden.
