Stephen Ives
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stephen Ives co-founded Digital Cutup Lounge in 1999 with the aim of promoting new media networks through peer-to-peer online sharing and live performances with international visual artists, musicians, and DJs. Their release Cutup Mixdown (2001) experimented with the practice of computer mixing techniques utilising audio samples and live improvisations. The second release, Networks Effects (2002), featured collaborations between musicians and new media artists from Asia, US and UK.
Ives specialises in creating mixtures of music from diverse range of cultures/styles. He has lived in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, US and UK, establishing a uniquely global perspective on engaging music, technologies and approaches working across cultural-boundaries.
