[edit] Biography
When she was 13 years old, Stephanie sent an audio demo tape of her singing to the Japanese music producer Joe Rinoie, who was impressed with her singing and helped recommend her. Soon after, upon turning 14 the next year, she moved from California, where she was residing at the time, to Tokyo in order to further her singing career. She soon signed onto Sony Music Japan, debuting with her first single "Kimi ga Iru Kagiri" on the company's SME Records sublabel, which was featured as the first ending theme to Sony's anime series Kiss Dum, and was released on May 30, 2007. Her identity, prior to her debut, was kept secret.
Her second single, "because of you", was released on August 29, 2007, and replaced "Kimi ga Iru Kagiri" as Kiss Dum's second ending theme. On November 30, 2007, she was among the winners of the "Best Artist Award" at the prestigious 49th Japan Record Awards.[1][2] In early 2008, she performed the second ending theme to the Sunrise TV anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, titled "Friends", replacing The Back Horn's "Wana".
