Step One is the debut by pop group STEPS. It was released in the UK and Europe on September 14, 1998. It charted at #2 upon its release. In 2000, the album was re-released in the US, containing songs from Step One and its successor Steptacular. "5,6,7,8", "Last Thing on My Mind", "One for Sorrow", "Heartbeat" and "Better Best Forgotten" were all released as singles in the UK. It was certified platinum in 12 countries.

- Track seven on the US version of the album is incorrectly titled "Love's Got A Hold of My Heart".
- The US mix of "One For Sorrow" is the Tony Moran 7" remix. It also appeared on international versions of Steptacular as a bonus track. It was later released as a b-side on the "Chain Reaction" single.
- Music videos for "Love U More" and "Too Weak To Resist" also appear on the VHS "STEPS The Video".
