Stella Matutina College of Education is a Teacher Training College located in Chennai, India, offering BA, MA and PhD degrees in education. [1]

Stella Matutina College of Education was established in July 1961 as a minority teacher training college. Stella Matutina College of Education acquired UGC recognition in June 1972. It is affiliated to the University of Madras. [2] Stella Matutina College of Education is a Catholic College, under the Management of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. Stella Matutina is run by as a College Governing Body, Board of Studies, Academic Council, an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and various Committees [3]

Stella Matutina College of Education offers teacher-training courses in Bachelor.Ed, Master.Ed, Master.Phil, Ph.D., Aerobics, Spoken English and Computer Applications. The main aim of this Teacher Training College is to promote excellence in the sphere of teacher education, by giving students a thorough foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching. The college prepares teaching personnel to be socially minded, spiritually vigorous, vocationally prepared and committed to the cause of quality education in India. Before graduating, teacher trainees are required to develop talents in , oratory, writing, sports, singing, dancing and other aesthetic and creative pursuits. [5]

April 17, 2000, Stella Matutina College of Education has been accorded the highest 5-Star accreditation for its distinction in producing quality teachers by the National Assessment and Accreditation Coucil.
