Steinbach am Glan is a municipality in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. The collective municipality (Verbandsgemeinde) is Glan-Münchweiler. Steinbach am Glan is about 35km west of Kaiserslautern and about 400km east of Paris in a valley near the Glan river. The Autoban access is 5km away in Glan-Muenchweiler, also there is the nearest Railwaystation. Nearest Airports are Hahn Airport and Frankfurt Int. Airport, which is both 1h by car. The Population is 969, Area 6,69km², Elevation from 275m to 417m. Mayor is Joerg Fehrentz, elected 2004. The village council consitst of 12 elected members, elected 2004.

Steinbach am Glan was founded in 1969 when Steinbach and Frutzweiler were renamed to Steinbach am Glan. The first known date, Steinbach was mentioned is 1355. The diamondcutting industry and coalmining were the main industries in Steinbach until they were closed down in the 1950s.

In the village center are the old belltower, gifted by Marianne von der Leyen in 1788, and a lot of protected trees. There is also a museum about the Jewish history in Steinbach and the near villages. Tours around in English language are available. Steinbach am Glan once was a center of Jewish settlement in the Western Palatinate region, with over one third of Jewish inhabitants. The old Synagoge was burned by the Nazis in 1938. On the hilltop to Boersborn is a nice Naturefriendshouse with spectacular views into the Westpfalz. A lot of hiking trials get you to beautiful forests and to the Hodenbachvalley, which is famous for its quite and clean area.
