Steinach am Brenner is a market town in the district of Innsbruck-Land and is located 20 km south of Innsbruck in the Wipptal at the Sill River. The village name was mentioned as “Steina” for the first time in 1242. Although Steinach was described as a market town for the first time in 1407 the official status was received in 1936. It has 3325 inhabitants.
