[edit] Early life and education

Schaeffer was born in Burbank, California to Gloria Peri-Smith and Peter Schaeffer, and was raised in Palm Springs. She has one brother, Michael Schaeffer.

She had a double major in college - English and psychology - and graduated from the University of California, Riverside. Stefani graduated in the top 10% of her class from Southwestern University School of Law in their SCALE program, the only two-year Juris Doctor program in the United States accredited by the American Bar Association.

[edit] Career

Selected as a Los Angeles Magazine "Young Rising Star" in 2006 for excellence in law, Stefani was a trial attorney for California defense firm Stockwell, Harris, Widom, Woolverton & Muehl.

She joined the firm on August 16, 2006, prior to The Apprentice.[1] She defended California employers against workers' compensation, subrogation and discrimination claims, and defended large real estate developers in construction defect litigation. She worked for Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP.

She is a member of the alumni association board of directors at Southwestern Law School.[3]

[edit] The Apprentice

Stefani was hired in the sixth season of The Apprentice. Schaeffer is the first practicing attorney (Season Two winner Kelly Perdew earned a law degree but chose not to practice.[4]) and the second woman to be hired by Trump. Schaeffer was supposed to oversee the Trump at Cap Cana project on a 1-year contractual basis (with a starting salary exceeding $250,000 USD) as an owners' representative for Trump at Capcana, but she asked Trump to be placed in Las Vegas instead, where she is currently vice president of marketing for Trump International Hotel & Tower.[5]

On April 24, 2007, Schaeffer appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly. She revealed that her fiancé, Paul Magdalin, encouraged her to audition for the Apprentice.[6]

[edit] Personal life

Schaeffer is engaged to Paul Magdalin, the senior partner at Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, where she worked.[7] She lives in Oak Park, California.

Cancer runs through Schaeffer's family. She had a breast cancer biopsy when she was 25; the tissue was benign, which is not-cancerous. Schaeffer's grandmother developed undetected breast cancer, which started to spread to her spine, killing her. Schaeffer's mother, Gloria Peri-Smith of Riverside, also had a battle with breast cancer.[8]
