[edit] Summary

Sun dial on St Buryan Church.

The Latin motto "Pereunt et Imputantur" comes from a poem by Martial. This can be translated as "The hours are consumed and will be charged to our account". The sentiments expressed by this motto are broadly similar to those of "Tempus fugit" ie time flies.
