I am English and British. I live in Wiltshire, which is in Southern England.
I'm a massive music fan, favouring art rock, post-rock, folk rock and indie pop. My favourite bands include Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Mountain Goats, Mogwai, Sigur Rós and The Arcade Fire.
I'm interested in the many different cultures, ethnic groups, religions and languages found in the world, and I support the differentiation between ethnic group and citizenship. I hate when people generalize about nations, ethnic groups, etc, and generally dislike any sort of patriotism or nationalism.
Although I am British, I use a kind of mix of British English and American English, and I hate when British people say that American spellings/terms are "wrong", just because they're different.
I'm an atheist, or perhaps an apatheist, but I am not anti-religious. That said, I will not hesitate to criticize a religious organization or religious doctrine, if I believe it to be bad. I support many elements of laïcité and secularism. I think that in some contexts "season's greetings" or "happy holidays" is more suitable than "merry Christmas", but I don't see what the big controversy is all about. I do celebrate the secular aspects of Christmas myself (I don't see this as contradictory to my religious views, as I generally only celebrate the aspects that have no Christian-specific themes, and after all Christmas is just an adaptation of a pagan festival).
As far as politics goes, I prefer to address individual issues with my own opinions, rather than align myself to any particular political party or ideology.
I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, and I especially hate the omission of accents from the few English words that still have them (e.g. cliché, naïveté, café, über, élite, façade) or foreign names and words, when they could easily be included.
