[edit] Wow

Nice job filling out the article. I had thought it was a pity that the Tribes games had such thorough articles and short shrift to Starsiege, but I didn't have enough info to complete it myself. -DynSkeet (talk) 12:16, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I love Starsiege and felt somebody should give it a full article. Some guy 21:16, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Suggested Improvements

  • More detailed description of customization, possibly with examples, links to samples
  • Description of locations in the game (Earth, Mars, Venus, Pluto, etc)
  • List of vehicles, with descriptions? (as a linked seperate entry)
  • List of weapons, with descriptions? (as a linked seperate entry)

Not sure if those last two would be going overboard.

Some guy 21:20, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Why do people keep double linking Mark Hamill? He's already linked, a paragraph above...

I think the Hercs and tanks should be in a seperate article, but I can add them with my trusty big packet. 70.111.251.203 17:01, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Note on changes, 27th of October

69.172.230.198 modified the article and added a few points and a lot of tags, some of which I've removed, as well as some other things and minor POV. I've removed tags for Ernesto Navarre, Bek Storm, Lobita Blanca, and the Turkhazakistan Debacle. These elements of the game are too minor to warrant their own articles. We can't go cluttering up Wikipedia with numerous articles about the game (see fancruft). I changed "best HERC pilots in the solar system" back to "in the Empire", because there is no evidence that they are necessarily better than all of the Cybrids, nor that there are any HERC pilots out of the solar system. Obviously there is no need for POV interjections such as ", surprisingly" after the fact that Hamill voices Caanon. The comment about Holy Hand Grenades is questionable but I left it in. Some guy 00:15, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Minor Change, 7 February 2006

Firstly, my compliments on this article. I've been a longtime fan of the Metaltech universe, and happened upon this entry as a result of curiosity--it's nice to see that Starsiege has recieved some credit.

I only made one VERY minor change, and that was the the maximum allowable weapons on a tank is in fact THREE, not two as was stated. While the vast majority of tanks could only mount two, there was the notable exception of the cybrid "Recluse" tank which featured three weapon mounts. 69.6.103.104 02:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the correction. I forgot about the Recluse. That's a pretty simple change. In the future, don't worry about adding a bit to the discussion page over a single word edit, just put it in your edit summary. Some guy 05:24, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The use of IT

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the capitalised form of it "It"? We don't around calling God HE, do we? No we, use He instead. So why should it be different for Prometheus? I'm confused...

It's spelled IT in the Compendium and probably in the game as well. Some guy 02:00, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] music

would it be at all possible to et some background info on the soundtrack? If only to find the feellow who wrote/performed mechsoul (track 6/7)

[edit] Minor Change: April 2, 2006

Barak:

I made a minor change to the wording in, "The Future" to reflect the fact that the game IS still actually played.

I also reorder the links to reflect the sites that are actively used by Starsiege players, as well as adding links to The JunkYard and SSplayers.

Okay why exactly were the changes I made removed? After reading over the page I decided it made Starsiege sound completely dead, and 2845 as the only hope for the future. I found the minor wording changes didn't take away from the article at all.

As it stands the article makes Starsiege sound completely unplayable do to bugs, which isn't true at all.

[edit] Unnecessary removal of peoples' contributions: please knock it off.

No one owns the Starsiege Wikipedia entry and it is no one's place to edit correct, factual information out of it. Do us all a favor and leave it the hell alone unless you're adding something or making an actual correction of faulty data, which has not been the case for the vast majority of past or present edits. Thanks y'all. (No, it's not my edits that got removed, but someone else in the community who doesn't use this forum and I'm posting on his behalf.)

Most recent edits have been for typos or by bots fixing minor problems. Are you referring to my recent removal of the "amazing" comment? Some guy 01:55, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zeitgeist?

I don't remember this term. I'd guess it's from a German version of Starsiege or something like that. Can anyone confirm? Some guy 02:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Zeitgeist was a Metagen//heretic unit which was destroyed by the player in the Cybrid campaign (mission Heresy//Dissonance). -Maestro

[edit] Amazing line

Actually he was referring to that. Though you may not believe this, most Starsiege players don't frequent the 2845 site.

The section of the article that refers to a rift between the people that use VuGames forums and the 2845 ones is slightly bogus. Neither set of people on EITHER site actually actively play STARSIEGE which the article was written about. The VuGames forums actually has no Starsiege content at all, and is more of a social hangout for players that played between 4 and 6 years ago than an active forum. The SS2845 Site has minimal actual Starsiege content and is more setup to be used as a sounding board for SS2845.

The main site that still supports Starsiege players is www.sunandshadows.com, with the www.ss2845.com site and www.starsiegeplayers.com having the same amount of activity from Starsiege players, basically being almost none at all.

I'd suggest if an article is needed to be written to support SS2845, that the article in question be written ABOUT SS2845.

Okay. So, he thinks it's amazing that people still play Starsiege. That's an opinion. I don't think it's amazing. Check out Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view Also, it should have been in the Community section, not the Future section. I'm not sure how it relates to the number of people who play, but I don't visit the 2845 site. I won't argue that the VU forums never discuss SS, but that doesn't mean this should become a S&S ad either. Anyway, I don't care if people edit the article, as long as it stays encyclopedic. Some guy 07:26, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Squadmates?

Hey, does the squadmates deserve their own article? You know then ones u encounter in the game? They are not important to the story but it might be good to have information about them I can get all of them, and all of their info including birth, callsign, etc.

Plus many are uncluded in the substory of SS

AWP_Lizard, May, 14, 2006

They certainly aren't notable enough to warrant their own articles. Some guy 23:36, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
some of them have their own story in SS. I can do it all myself, u sure u dont want it? it might give other ppl some more knowledge of SS, plus there are many great houses and alliences though they do not have a direct impact in the game story, they still have some role in the universe (SS has a very complicated history, I know this because I still have both the original Starsiege booklet)
and yes many ppl are interested in the SS story, I had 4 classmates who ask about the SS universe. But it's all up to u, I'm not here to dominate
by:AWP_Lizard
Realisitically, not very many people will care about Starsiege, probably very few outside of those who play or have played the game. Anyone who really cared could look up the information, but I seriously doubt anyone without the game will have any interest in the squadmates. The squadmates' backgrounds, the different houses, the metrozones, a vast majority of the details aren't nearly important enough to be included on Wikipedia. You might want to check pages on WP:NOTABILITY and Fancruft. I have the Compendium and other sources and I know a lot of the background, but again it's not important enough to be notable here. Some of the stuff already in the article probably isn't important enough. Some guy 03:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm, mabey my situation is a rare one. But ok, I'm not here to argure. AWP_Lizard

[edit] Minor Changes March 09

Someone apparently came in to the fan section and marked it up in a way designed to insult the fan base (small group of dedicated Raelians, etc.). This does not belong in an Encyclopedia. There is also a great deal of what looks like editorializing in this section which needs to be backed up with attributions or removed as editorializing and personal opinions do not belong in an encyclopedia.

s0m3guy! You made me proud son, fine job. Aidget[oAo]

[edit] 2845 dead, time to bury it.

I'd suggest changing the ending section to reflect that fact that 2845 is no longer an being worked on. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.148.26.222 (talk) 05:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC).

You can make changes yourself too. I wasn't aware that it was over. I'm not surprised. Some guy 07:59, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

No thank you, already got my head snapped off for making a minor change. Considering how much resentment I have towards the Clancore team for putting the nail in the coffin as far as anyone else getting rights to use the Starsiege franchise IP, I think it would be better if you wrote it. -- Barak

I fail to see any relevance whatsoever, to Starsiege or this article, in advertising what the Clancore Development Group is doing at the moment. Their new project has nothing to do with the future of Starsiege, and they have taken great pains to completely disassociate themselves from the game. The phrase "Immediatley(sic) following the cancelation(sic) of 2845, some of the developers had partnered with a small group known as SSMods.com to create a new mech combat game akin to the starsiege universe. The game is currently underdevelopment(sic) and updates can be viewed at SSMods.com" has absolutely nothing to do with, and has no bearing on, Starsiege.

Perhaps when Clancore has actually finished production on even a single new video game project then they, and it, might earn their own article elsewhere in Wikipedia, but this looks like an attempt at free publicity by trying to link their new, non-Starsiege, project to the Starsiege game and ride its coattails. Spelling errors aside, they should also have been respectful enough to capitalize 'Starsiege'. Phrase removed.

Publicity again seems to be the reason for the two external links to CCDG's web site within 5 words of each other in just one sentence, this line: "... begun in April 2003, by Clancore Design Group called Starsiege: 2845, was officially allowed...) Both links take you to the exact same CCDG page dealing with their non-Starsiege project, and neither link belongs in this article. The "External Links" section is clearly defined, and the improper external links in the "Future" section of this article have been removed. - Ares

You can always make changes yourself. You can ask if you think it's really controversial but don't feel that you have to get others to do it for you. Some guy 23:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
I did make the changes, I was just listing them here, with the reasons for the changes, in case someone had a gripe about them. Ares 00:01 28 April 2007 (GMT)
Please proofread your comments before posting them. Look at the history and see how many entries you have just revising a few paragraphs. This clutters up the history list and is extremely annoying. Some guy 09:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Well, I could swear...

...That the rhyme is "Little old Peter, missing his leader"

But I haven't played in about 3 years :P

Emolotricity 17:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I'd say its essentially impossible to distinguish between "liter" and "leader" when said aloud. But I believe it is printed "liter" in the manual or Compendium. Some guy 23:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] If anyone wants more screenshots

If I got more screenshots, would someone do all the fiddly wiki code needed to put them in the article? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Emolotricity (talk • contribs) 18:18, 3 April 2007 (UTC).

Getting screenshots is not a problem, but the screenshot copyright rules are so confusing I've felt it isn't worth the hassle. Some guy 23:09, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Starsiege Box Cover.jpg

Image:Starsiege Box Cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
