[edit] About

This page is a Talk Page that relates to Star Wars. This Talk Page was created for the use of an area to look at for information about the work on the article Star Wars which is currently trying to be made a featured article. If you would like to help with this ask here or ask User:Gary King who started this. Please put any changes you have done below, each change should be a sub category of the current month ====New Title Here==== with 4 ==== on either side. This will help it be kept neat. Cheers! Why is there a seperate page for this? Why not just use the article talk page? It's confusing to have to compare the same issues in two places.--Merbabu (talk) 01:39, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
That's what I said... Gary King (talk) 02:25, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
PS, and I don't want to be rude - I like that initiative is being taken on the article and its improvement; I'm just not sure about the use of two talk pages. --Merbabu (talk) 02:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
The Reason I did this is as stated above (I think) that it is so it is easy to find things about this project and also it is now not going to be archived then lost then then then...... See what I mean? Stealth (talk) 03:04, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I still don't think it should be created. Basically, the Talk page is where everyone convenes to talk about improving the article. The key word is everyone, meaning that people who are not aware of this current page will not see it, and I'd rather have the input of more people than less. The Talk page will also continuously be maintained (i.e. watched for vandalism, archived) whereas this one will not (as much). Regarding archiving, the discussions will (hopefully) be archived long after this article reaches WP:FA status. That's typically the case. And if not, then the discussion SHOULD be archived, considering that it'd be really old by then, then. Gary King (talk) 03:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Issues that are still current do not have to be archived - if specific topics are archived, they can be easily "unarchived". And archived issues can be easily linked to. Everything discussed on the article should be in one space for all to see - ie, those editors deeply involved in the FA effort, and also for the editors transient (but no-less valuable) to the article. Ie, it's good to have any FA-directed discussions open for all to see. Try it on the talk page for a while is my suggestion. --Merbabu (talk) 03:19, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Alright, you have convinced me :). With your permission I will delete this stuff then move it back over. This will just be made into a Redirect to the section :) Stealth (talk) 09:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
hey, at least your showing initiative to get this article upgraded. A huge pop culture topic like this is subject to hundreds (1000s) of drive by (teenage?) editors who want to just add rubbish, so it is very difficult to get such an article to encyclopedic, let alone academic standards. Ie, it really needs a few editors with a vision and long term maintenance outlook to keep an eye on it, and upgrade if they can. So nice going.
If it becomes apparent to you that this page is needed later, then bring it up again.--Merbabu (talk) 12:49, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
So do I just go to the main talk page and post all of this there (except for this discussion)? Stealth (talk) 16:26, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Yep, that would be best. You do not need to include this discussion. Ah, Merbabu (talk ยท contribs) is right - I think you have great initiative for this article. I am glad that my request for help on this article has been met with as much enthusiasm as you have shown so far. Gary King (talk) 18:22, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
