[edit] Tax resister?

Is there some source or documentation for including Elkin in the Tax resisters Category?ShelfSkewed 03:24, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Since no one has stepped forward with any reference to back up the tax-resisters classification, I have removed it.--ShelfSkewed 02:37, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
The article History of tax resistance states "In early 1968, 448 writers and editors put a full-page ad in the New York Post declaring their intention to refuse to pay taxes for the Vietnam War. The signatories included...Stanley Elkin...". As a source, the article cites the January 30, 1968 New York Post the ad appeared in. Whether or not this means Elkin really did refuse to file is not clear. I think it's worth mentioning that he was one of the signatories but perhaps the addition of Category:Tax resisters should be removed until we can get some clarification. I'm sure any good full-length biography would have more information but I suspect there are none on Elkin yet published (I've heard of a few in the works). Inoculatedcities 20:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'll put the category back, based on the New York Post cite mentioned above. -Moorlock 16:34, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Writers influenced by Elkin

I would like to add more writers who have been directly influenced by Elkin to the infobox and perhaps the article itself. It is oft-repeated that his influence was pervasive but I'm having a hard time finding documentation where noted authors name him as a formative influence. Anyone have any ideas?
