NEEDS TO CLEARLY DEFINE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POPULATION STAND DEV AND POPUL STAND DEV, AS IN THE FIRST EXAMPLE IT REFERS TO A FORMULA FOR POP STAND DEV AS AN EXAMPLE FOR WHAT IT MAKES LOOK LIKE IS FOR STAND DEV. AND OF COURSE THERE IS AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE IN THE DENOMINATOR OF THE EQUATION. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.78.73.66 (talk) 05:09, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

It looks like the "simple example" of calculating standard deviation does not subtract "one"

from the amount of numbers before dividing into sum of variances to arrive at the standard deviation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.44.136.113 (talk) 18:31, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
