Stayz

Stayz is a website directory for Holiday House and Apartment owners to list their properties for Holiday Rental in Australia. The main website is STAYZ. The business was started by Robert Hunt in 2001, and has developed into the number one site for Holiday Accommodation Rental in Australia [1] [1].

Stayz covers 890 locations, with over 12000 properties listed [www.stayz.com.au/about-us][2].

It was purchased by Fairfax Media in January 2006 for $12.7 million [www.fxj.com.au/announcements2005.htm][3].

Stayz is different from many other accommodation and travel website, in that it is not just a credit card payment site. Instead it places the traveller in contact with the property owner or manager, so that details of the property can be shared, and prices can be negotiated.

The key competitors of Stayz are Wotif.com, lastminute, and hotelsclub.

The main areas with a large volume of Stayz Holiday Accommodation inventory are Sydney, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Jervis Bay, Lorne, Great Ocean Road, and Noosa.
