Staverton, Wiltshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Staverton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire.

Staverton is near the confluence of the River Avon and the River Biss and is on the south bank of the former; to the south of the village is the Kennet and Avon Canal and a marina serves the canal communities. Staverton is some three miles north of the county town of Trowbridge. Administratively, Staverton forms part of the district of West Wiltshire.

Staverton is now expanding, with new houses and apartments built by the marina. Staverton Marina is considered one of the better places in Trowbridge to live.[citation needed] It is considered separate from Trowbridge or Staverton itself, as it has its own village shop, a dentist surgery and an Indian takeaway.
