Staunton Country Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Staunton Country Park is a listed Regency landscaped parkland and forest encompassing approximately 1000 acres (4 km²) in Hampshire, England.
An ornamental farm, ornamental lake, follies, maze, walled garden and glasshouses can be found within it. Entry to the parkland itself is free, however there is an associated visitors center, with animals and attractions, which is not free.
Originally named the Regency Pleasure Gardens and Parkland, it was created by the Regency politician and botanist Sir George Leonard Staunton as part of his country estate 'Leigh Park'. The house was demolished in the 1950s, however the Gothic Library, part of an earlier house on the site, still remains.
It is situated between Leigh Park and Rowlands Castle, near Havant.
