Statutory assessment tests (SATS) are assessment tests taken by British schoolchildren who attend state schools. Optional tests are taken in all years from 1-9 but tests are compulsory in year 2 (ks1 sats); year 6 (ks2 sats); and year 9 (ks3 sats). They are graded with the National Curriculum (NC) level system.
