Station agent

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the profession of station agent, for the movie see The Station Agent.

In many countries, the station agent is the person in charge of a railway station. Variants of station agents can also work at other transit terminals such as airports, ferry terminals, etc.

In Australia and New Zealand, the term has a different meaning, due to the term "station" being the equivalent of ranch in these countries. A station agent - or more often stock and station agent is a retailer specialising in goods for the farming sector. These goods may range from fence posts to animal health products, and tractors to computer software.
