Static Radio (Static FM) is a local pirate radio station in the Republic of Ireland broadcasting to county Mayo. (Not to be confused with a short lived station in Dublin with a similar name.)

Static Radio was established in September 2000, broadcasting on 103.7Mhz FM. Broadcasting began at 6pm weekdays and finished at 11pm. Broadcasting was occasional and the station spent many months off air.
In February 2002 Static Fm began 24 hour broadcasting, with automated and live shows. a new transmitter site was constructed which helped the station to gain almost county wide coverage. The frequency was changed to 106.5 Mhz.
The station started to gain popularity but the station equipment was stolen in May of 2002. The following week a station began in Dublin with the name of "static Fm" using the stations equipment. They also took images from their website. The Dublin station was short lived as it interfered with many of the legal stations in the Dublin area.
Static Fm Mayo returned in September 2003 but only broadcast for two weeks. It was then decided that a relocation of the studio was required for security & technical reasons. Help with technical issues was provided by "Mike" of Choice FM and "Scott Taylor" of Ice FM.
The station relaunched a year later and quickly gained in popularity. Live shows began at 8pm and finished at 1am. Static Fm played chart, rock, dance, during the evening and classic rock hits during the day.
In April 2005 the owner of Static FM decided to end the station and to work with a local licensed community station CRC FM. Many of the presenters followed on to work on other local and regional radio stations.

In October 2006 Static Fm was renamed as Static Radio as the station will be broadcasting on the internet, not on FM. Static Radio was divided into two stations Static Hits which plays dance and chart music, internet only. Static 1251 plays rock & Classic Hits, via internet and 1251Khz AM.
