Gianna Carina Esperanza, known as Static is one of the more recent Acolytes recruited by Fabian Cortez when they were searching for Magneto, who was missing at the time. She first appeared in the X-Men: Magneto War #1 one-shot issue.
She later went along with Magneto to Genosha and was there during the Sentinels attack of the island. Apparently, Static lost her mutant powers after the M-Day.
Esperanza can generate neurosynaptic impulses that disable the higher brain functions of others, paralyzing her opponents and temporarily robbing them of their superhuman abilities.
[edit] Neo member
A member of the race of supermutants known as Neo was known as Static. She first appeared in X-Men vol. 2, #100 and has peak human strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes, project a scrambling field effect that disables superhuman talents, or reverses them to backfire on their owners.
This Static was a member of the squad of Neo who tracked and fought Cecilia Reyes and the X-Men in the opening salvo of the Neo's war against humans and mutants, sparked when the High Evolutionary removed all mutants' powers, causing untold devastation to the hidden Neo community.
It is presumed that she died in the destruction of Genosha by Sentinels commanded by Cassandra Nova.
