Stathas (Greek: Σταθάς), is a small mountainous village of Greece. It is located in the north west part of Greece and belongs to the Aetolia-Acarnania prefecture. The village was known as Dounista (Greek: Δούνιστα or Ντούνιστα) until the late 20th century. The village belongs to the Inachos municipality (Valtou province). Its population is estimated about 467 inhabitants for the municipal district and 168 for the main village. The altitude of the main village is 640 meters above the sea level. The nearest major cities are Agrinion, Amfilochia and Arta.

The village's name "Stathas" was given after the famous rebel "armatolos" *Gerodimos Stathas, of Valtos. Other famous rebels, during the Turkish occupation of Greece, from the same village are:
- Giannis Stathas (1758-1812)
- Andreas Iskos, Ioannis Iskos, Chronis Iskos, Dimitris Iskos(who, according to a roumor, was the father of Georgios Karaiskakis, the famous fighter for the Greek independence).

The population of the village dropped between the years 1981-1991. Many young people left the village looking for better living conditions to other parts of Greece and even abroad.

Stathas has a school, a church and a square (plateia). Its nearest lyceum (middle school) and gymnasium (secondary school) are in Neo Chalkiopoulo.
