Stasys Lozoraitis (junior)

Stasys Lozoraitis (1924 - 1994, a son of Stasys Lozoraitis, 1898 - 1983) was a Lithuanian (born in Germany) diplomat.

In 1987 Stasys Lozoraitis succeeded Stasys Bačkis as the leader of the Republic of Lithuania's government in exile, the position earlier held until 1983 by his father, working in Washington, D.C..
In 1991 Lithuania's independence was restored. Lozoraitis younger resigned his government in favor of the national government established in Vilnius. His leadership thus was between November 15, 1987 and September 6, 1991. He was appointed as the new government's chief diplomat to the United States, where he re-established the embassy.
Stasys Lozoraitis served as the Lithuanian ambassador to U.S. between 1991 and 1993. He was a candidate in Lithuanian presidential election in 1993, gathering 38.9% of vote and losing to Algirdas Brazauskas.
