Startools

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Startools is the name of a group of doctors who perform rock music for charitable causes in the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada area. They have raised over 2 million dollars since their formation in 1978. Current members are Dr. Barry Bruce (lead vocals), Dr. Ray Dawes (bass and vocals), Dr. John Shier (vocals and keyboards), Dr. Doug Mirsky (guitar and vocals), Dr. Bill Hogg (drums and vocals), and Gary Landry (rhythm and vocals).

Their current cd - Blastorama - was recorded in the Diefenbunker, a cold war bunker near Ottawa, built in the 1960s to shield government officials in case of nuclear attack. The CD was recorded on the original electronics which would have been used in part to send radio messages from the Prime Minister across the country.
