Star Rise is the last release by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Michael Brook. It was released posthumously for Khan, as he died just before the album was due to be completed. Because of this the album is dedicated to the memory of him. The album is an album of remixes from the two previous Khan/Brook albums Mustt Mustt (1990) and Night Song (1996).
The tracks 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 are from Night Song, and Tracs 3, 4, 7 and 9 are from Mustt Mustt.
The album was also Khan's last album on Real World Records, even though posthumous releases have been brought out on other labels.
According to the liner notes of the CD, the only remix that was created after Khan's death was that of Nitin Sawhney, and thus this track was the only one without Khan's feedback.
