Star Light, Star Bright is the name of a nursery rhyme.

Star light, star bright,
The first star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.

Though it's unsure if the superstition or rhyme came first, it is said that if one sees the first star visible as nightfall comes, they can recite this rhyme and make a wish upon the star.

This nursery rhyme appears in the movie 8 mm, and also forms some of the lyrics of Madonna's song, "Lucky Star". This nursery rhyme is also used in Walt Disney World's "Wishes!" firework show. Metallica song King Nothing features the last two lines, though slightly altered.

Star Light, Star Bright is also the name of a 1979 crime fiction by Stanley Ellin.
