[edit] Background

Star27 also (Often typeset as star27, star 27, startwentyseven or star twenty seven) are a band of from Preston in Lancashire who gained popularity in late 2006 after being brought to the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq. Lamacq did not forget about them, and took a shine to their Debut single, Bukowski's Secret and added it to his playlists on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, naming it his 'Single of the Week' on the latter in May 2007 when it was released on Caroline True Records.

The band formed in 2004 from the ashes of the Pianist, DJ Frank Beaver, and Drummer, Rachel McDonald's old band Wowzer. Soon after, Russell, Tom, Helen, and a year later, Phil were recruited (However Phil left the band in July 2007 and has yet to be replaced). The band are known for their eclectic range of influences and prominent vocal harmonies provided by 4 of the 5 members.
