Stansstad is a municipality in the canton of Nidwalden in Switzerland.
It has a population of 4500 of which 12% is of foreign nationality (2002). The area of Stansstad is 17.11 km².
There are 300 local businesses which employ 1600 people. 5% of these are in the agricultural sector, 28% in trade and industry, 67% in services.
The main sights of Stansstad are: a museum of the fortifications, a tower (Schnitzturm), and the chaper Marie Linden in Kehrsiten.
