Stanlow Refinery
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stanlow Refinery is part of Shell Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England. The refinery occupies nearly 1,900 acres (7.7 kmĀ²) near the River Mersey and dates back to 1924, when a small bitumen plant was established.[1]
Crude oil is received at the Tranmere Oil Terminal on the River Mersey and is transferred via a fifteen mile (24 km) pipeline to storage at Stanlow. Output is delivered by pipeline via the UKOP pipeline, road, rail, and the Manchester Ship Canal.
