Stanley Gene (born 11 May 1974) is a Papua New Guinean rugby league player. He plays half back/loose forward/hooker. He played for Hull KR for several years before moving to the Huddersfield Giants. He left the Giants at the end of the 2005 season and moved to Bradford Bulls. In the 2007 season he started playing for Hull Kingston Rovers, the team that first gave him his break in English professional rugby. There is also a lot of controversy over the actual age of Stanley Gene, with many believing the official age published by his clubs to be incorrect. Reports of his age vary between the sublime and the ridiculous, with most stating he is between 32 and 58 years old.

[edit] Pronunciation of his name
Most people in England, including the Sky Sports commentary team, call him Stanley Gene (as in Jean) however it is actually pronounced "Gennay".

Played for Hull KR between 1996-2000 scoring 94 Tries in 111 matches, and re-signed for them for their debut season in Super League in 2007.
[edit] Huddersfield Giants
Signed for The Giants in 2002,and was instrumental in their promotion back into Super League that year. He went on to make the OPTA stats dream team in 2003,and enjoyed some of his best years at the Giants.
[edit] Bradford Bulls
Moved to the Bulls for the 2006 Season. He was released to Hull KR after an injury plagued year.
