It was written by Frank Loesser. The song was published in 1956.The song was introduced by Shorty Long, Alan Gilbert, John Henson, and Roy Lazarus in the Broadway musical The Most Happy Fella.
A recording of the song by The Four Lads (made March 1, 1956) was popular in 1956. The recording was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 40674. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on April 28, 1956. On the Disk Jockey chart, it peaked at #3; on the Best Seller chart, at #3; on the Juke Box chart, at #3; on the composite chart of the top 100 songs, it reached #3. The flip side was My Little Angel
