Stan Evans

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stan Evans is a former South Australian Liberal politician.

He held the seat of Onkaparinga from 1968 to 1970, then Fisher from 1970 to 1985.

A 1983 electoral redistribution turned Fisher into a marginal seat, with much of the old Fisher moving into the safe Liberal seat of Davenport. Evans failed to win Liberal pre-selection for Davenport, but stood as an Independent Liberal and won the seat, temporarily forcing Dean Brown out of politics.

He rejoined the Liberal Party soon after the 1985 election, and stood in the 1989 election as the endorsed Liberal candidate for Davenport. He retired at the 1993 election, allowing his son Iain Evans to take the seat.
