Stallington Signal Box

Stallington Signal Box was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) in 1884 on their Derby to Stoke line. The box was built to NSR specifications by McKenzie & Holland with a standard McKenzie & Holland locking room. It is vaguely similar in design to some GNR style cabins.

The signal box was equipped with a standard McKenzie & Holland 13 lever frame and a gate wheel for operating the level crossing gates which controlled traffic on Stallington Lane. Stallington Signal Box finally closed on 18th February 1989, the level crossing was converted to CCTV barriers supervised by Caverswall.
