Staff of Hermes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A staff of Hermes (Unicode U+269A (⚚) on the Miscellaneous Symbols table) is a heraldic staff with a winged sun atop it. Differing from the caduceus in lacking coiled snakes, it is nevertheless alike that staff in symbology, being associated with commerce in astrology and named after the Greek god Hermes, the messenger for the gods, conductor of the dead and protector of merchants and thieves. It also lacks the association with the medical profession carried by the caduceus.
