The station opened on April 22, 1978, and is one of the original five stations on the LRT system.[1] Stadium Station is located between Churchill Station and Coliseum Station.

The station serves Edmonton's Norwood area and the Edmonton Commonwealth Stadium.[2]

Stadium is one of four stations that have never been the terminus of the line.[3]
