Saint Vedast-alias-Foster, church in Foster Lane, EC2, city of London, dedicated to Vedast (Foster is an Anglicisation of his name[1]), a French saint whose cult came to England via contacts with Augustinian clergy. It was rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren in 1670-1673 after being destroyed in the Great Fire in 1666. In 1697 a belltower was added; and, in 1703, a spire[2].

Wren's church was gutted during the Blitz. The post-war restoration was undertaken by Stephen Dykes Bower. He remained faithful to Wren's original conception by collecting fittings dispersed from other City churches. The church is now noted for its unusual steeple, adjoining small, secluded courtyard, and its stained glass.
