St Paul's School is a bilingual international school in São Paulo, Brazil. It offers a combination of the British national curriculum and International Baccalaureate teaching. The school was formally established in 1926, when it was known as the Escola Britânica S.A. and accommodated 60 students, with boarding facilities for twelve (male) students.[1]
In 2006, the British Guardian newspaper listed it as one of the best UK-curriculum international schools in the world.[2]
[edit] Sports
Saint Pauls school is currently home to the Saint Pauls Lions. They divide into both Varsity (ages 15 up) and Junior Varsity teams, in a range of sports, such as Football, Futsal, Basketball and Volleyball. They compete in the SPHSL (São Paulo High School League) which comprises five schools in total; Saint Pauls, Associação Escola Graduada de São Paulo (Graded), Escola Maria Imaculada (Chapel School), EAC Campinas (American School of Campinas) and the Pan American Christian Academy.
[edit] Negative Stuff
It has being criticized a lot because some say the students are snobbish and disrespect staff. Also because of it's strict dress code and because they do not tolerate Portuguese. They have to wear tie and a blazer and are suspended for one day if hair not combed. Once in 1996 a 7th grader committed suicide because his teachers said that he was wasting their money going to that school. Also In 2005 a boy files a lawsuit of $25000 saying that he was bullied for 7 months by staff, teachers, and especially students because he was their under a scholarship. He lost the case in 2006 and then got transfered to St. Nicholas a other British school.
