St Margarets railway station is in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, in southwest London, and is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South West Trains. The platform exit is at the east end (nearer to London).

The station is not to be confused with the St Margarets railway station in Hertfordshire, approximately 27 miles to the north-east as the crow flies.
