St. Kilda Football Club is competing in the 2008 AFL premiership, which is the 150th anniversary of the first official game of the sport that is now known as Australian Rules football.
[edit] Pre Season Cup
The season has started well for St. Kilda with the club winning the 2008 Pre-season Cup - the National Australia Bank Cup.
The Club had wins over Richmond in the round of 16, Geelong in the quarter-final, Essendon in the semi-final and won the Final against the Adelaide Crows by 5 points at Football Park (AAMI stadium) 2-7-9-(69) to 0-9-10-(64) - St. Kilda's third Pre-season Cup win in the AFL. Jason Gram won the Michael Tuck medal for player adjudged best on ground during the final.
[edit] 2008 Premiership Season
The 2008 Premiership Season officially began the with a home win against the Sydney Swans at Telstra Dome 6-15-(51) to 6-13-(49). During the 22 round home and away season St. Kilda will play 16 times in Victoria in 2008, 14 games at Telstra Dome, and the other two at the MCG. The six interstate games are against Port Adelaide (Round 6, AAMI Stadium), Brisbane Lions (Round 9, Gabba), Sydney (Round 13, SCG), Kangaroos (Round 14, Gold Coast), West Coast Eagles (Round 17, Subiaco) and Fremantle (Round 20, Subiaco).
