St George's College, Weybridge is an independent mixed Roman Catholic co-educational day school in Surrey, England. It had historically been an all-boys' boarding school. The first girls entered the 6th Form in the 1960s and the school decided to take girls at age 11 in 1998. In 2000 with the closure of sister school St Maurs, the two schools merged to make St George's fully co-educational.

There are approximately 850 students aged between eleven and eighteen and four houses- Kilmorey, Southcote, Stirling and Petre.

Its teachings are based on Josephite tradition (founded by the Belgian Constant van Crombrugghe), the order of priests that established the school. It has several other Josephite sister and brother schools elsewhere in the world (in Belgium, the United States and Congo) and close links are maintained between the schools. The school has also founded an orphanage in Romania.

The school has the largest grounds of any independent school within the M25.[citation needed] Two river Bournes, flow through the grounds where they meet in the north eastern corner before flowing northwards into the River Thames at Hamm Court, Weybridge. The River Bourne (Chertsey Branch) enters the grounds in the north west corner and the River Bourne (Addlestone Branch) enters the grounds from the south east corner.

The school has encouraged an Old Georgians' network, with numerous 'Reunite' events staged all over the United Kingdom and the world.

Alongside its strong reputation for academia, music and drama,[citation needed] the College has an especially strong reputation for Hockey[citation needed] and has produced international-level sportsmen and women and Michael Usmar as well as winning the National Schools Hockey Championship on numerous occasions[citation needed]. In recent years it has hosted numerous hockey events such as the National Schools Championship for Boys, the National Schools Championship for Girls, St George's College Hockey Sixes, and many County hockey tournaments.[citation needed]

[edit] Discipline

St Georges has a firm system of discipline, which is well known by both pupils and members of staff. Punishment for pupils varies on the offence which they have commmitted.

St Georges has, like many other schools in the area, a 'Zero Tollerence' policy with regards to drugs and alcohol. If students are caught in possession of (or in the presence of) drugs, they are immediately expelled. Alcohol is also not tolerated on the college premises; pupils found with alcohol can expect to be punished.
