St Finian's Church of Ireland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
St Finian's Church of Ireland is located in the village of Newcastle, County Dublin. The church building dates from around the year 1400. It has a residential tower attached to it in which the priest lived. In the late 15th century the elaborate eastern window was added.
Newcastle, at the edge of the Pale, was frequently attacked by the Irish striking out from the Wicklow Mountains; by 1400 there were six fortified tower-houses in Newcastle, the tower in the church is the only one still remaining in habitable condition.
