The Penarth Site is the main site of the school, catering for years 7-13. Its main block, the New Block is the tallest building in Penarth - the top floor suffered a fire about 5 years ago. The Sixth Form is also on the Penarth Site and has up to 200 pupils from the ages of 16-18.

The New Block is surrounded by a series of smaller buildings known as the Old Block and terrapins.

The Penarth site is due to get a refurbishment in the coming years as part of a package put together by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to the value of £18 million. This package will also feature the refurbishment of two other schools in the county, these being Cowbridge Comprehensive and Llantwit Major Comprehensive. St Cyres is likely to be given second priority with Cowbridge being refurbished first.
