[edit] Introduction

St Bede's Catholic College is a secondary school located in Lawrence Weston, Bristol, England. Like other schools in the area, it has seen many changes over the years, most recently the new ICT rooms built in 2004 and the Lecture Theatre in 2005. The school was acknowledged as a "Beacon School" that has an "excellent local and regional reputation."[1] The School also received a glowing Ofsted report in 2007.[2]

In a message to parents published in the school prospectus, the headteacher (Ms Catherine Hughes) has this to say about the school;

"St. Bede's is recognised by the Government as a Beacon School which has an excellent local and regional reputation. It provides a calm and industrious environment in which each child is valued, stimulated and challenged to develop his/her talents to the full whatever the ability. We expect high standards from and for our pupils. They are encouraged to strive for excellence in all their activities. Achievement and effort are valued and celebrated within the school community."[3]

St Bede's has a strong partnership with St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Brislington.

The School was awarded a green flag in the Eco School Awards in July 2004.[4]
