Wow, this page has been added to heavily in the last few days. And it looks like the additions were made by an SM booster. Please be advised that Wikipedia is not a PR vehicle. One of the great things about Wikipedia is it is out of reach of those asociated with the institution who would only put its best foot forward. I'm not for vandalism but will watch for shameless boosterism and remove it and I will also reinsert inconvenient truths that the PR types have removed. For example, it is undeniable that Groton is more prestigious -- academically and socially. Anyone who denies it is divorced from reality. Wikipedia is fun. Enjoy ...

While the word "prestigious" is an opinion, so, too, are vapid assertions such as "St. Mark’s is still very much a family-based environment." I would wager to say there a number of people who would disagree with you, but that doesn't seem to bother 71.228.125.109, who takes down other "opinions" s/he doesn't agree with. What 71.228.125.109 doesn't seem to realize is visitors to the site, such as consultants and prospective students and parents, see through this kind of rhetoric. Hey, they can get it from SM's own propaganda machine. They probably thought they could come to Wikipedia for a different experience. Sadly, they will be disappointed.

PR Booster is an understatement. "Like so many St. Markers to follow, Burnett met the challenge that faced him." I'll just take out every non-neutral thing I see. Anyone who knows about St. Mark's can add back whatever should be added back, but please try to write it in a less self-congratulatory way. Thanks guys! Mjl0509 00:04, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Current Article

This is what needs to happen (in my view):

  • Remove academics section - this isnt a student handbook! its an encyclopedia!
  • Remove Programs - once again this isnt a student handbook!
  • Merge/Remove trivia, trivia sections arent meant in school articles! merge it into the article or delete it.

Thats about all thats wrong, but the rest is alright. Smbarnzy 07:44, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rating

I just rated this article as a Start/Mid for School Assessment. It is clearly more than a stub, but needs work. The school is well known among those who know boarding schools, and has plenty of famous alumni --Jvv62 02:45, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
